Buying A 3-Bed London Home In The Winter
Why could buying a 3-bed home in the winter in London be a good idea?
Moving Companies
Moving companies/ removal vans typically are fully booked and overbooked in a lot of cases in peak completion months, in months such as June, July and August.
Many families need to move in before the start of the school year (usually September!), so the months leading up to September are often incredibly busy and moving companies are fully booked!
“Many 3-bed home sellers put their home on the market in the summer months to ‘test’ the market and to see if anyone buys their home at what is an overinflated price.”
Fewer Sellers
Practically speaking, sellers want to make their 3-bed home look as beautiful as possible, and selling their home in the summer months, or at least putting it on the online portals in the summer months, will in all likelihood make it more appealing to potential London 3-bed home buyers.
The contrast to this is of course taking photos in the winter months, when the weather probably won’t be anywhere near as good!
In months such as February, there are typically fewer London home buyers too, as there’s not any rush or need to move into a property by, say, Christmas time or the start of the school year.
This means that there will possibly be less competition for the 3-bed properties that come on the market!
Motivated Sellers
Many 3-bed home sellers put their home on the market in the summer months to ‘test’ the market and to see if anyone buys their home at what is often an overinflated price.
Sellers who sell in the winter, on the other hand, are usually incredibly motivated to sell and often need to sell, meaning that 3-bed properties that you do view are genuinely available.
Survey
Having a home survey carried out on a home in the peak winter months, when issues inevitably show up, such as the pipes freezing, the boiler not working efficiently or the windows letting through some rain and wind, will ensure that you know far more about what is really happen in the property.
It’s very difficult for home sellers to temporarily try and cover up issues such as the ones above and what shows up in any home survey that is carried out is a true reflection of what state/ condition the property is in.
Would you ever consider buying a 3-bed property in London in winter?
