Would A London Home Seller Lie?

Boiler Plan UK undertook a survey with 1,000 people and found that a number of sellers do not reveal the full picture, even though it is a legal obligation!

Some of the findings include:

  • 47% of sellers in Britain do not reveal problems that they have with their neighbours.

  • 13% of sellers in Britain do not reveal surface damage to their property.

  • 13% of sellers in Britain do not reveal an increase in crime in their area.

  • 10% of sellers in Britain do not reveal damp in their house.

  • 6% of sellers in Britain do not reveal any central heating or boiler issues.

  • 6% of sellers in Britain do not reveal structural damage in their home.

“47% of sellers in Britain do not reveal problems that they have with their neighbours.”

This is why it is so important to get a full structural survey when buying a property that is not brand new!

The regions most likely to hide issues with their neighbours were as follows:

East of England - 54%

West Midlands - 54%

East Midlands - 53%

South West - 52%

Yorkshire & The Humber - 48%

South East - 46%

North East - 43%

London - 42%

North West - 34%

Bear in mind that a seller will always try and paint their property in the best possible light…
