Choosing To Raise Children & Live In Central London

Here are some of my notes on potentially raising children and living in Central London…

Reasons For

Amazing parks.

Amazing museums. Incredible sporting facilities.

Endless opportunities.

Short commute to work.

Range of cuisines.

Multicultural environment.

Wide choice of schooling.

Some of the best private schools in the world.

Some of the best universities in the world.

Easier to juggle work alongside parenting (think commuting to and from & access to childcare).

If you’ve bought well, your London property will always be in demand if and when you want to sell.

High salaries - generally speaking.

Would you rather sacrifice space and a garden for the seemingly endless opportunities in Central London, or would you rather get a lot more for your money and a large garden and put up with a longer commute?

Reasons Against

Incredibly high price in Central London.

High price/ sq ft (high price for what you get, size wise!) in Central London.

Arguably more demand in Central London - at times.

You can get much more for your money outside of Central London.

You can, most likely, buy a property with a large garden in the suburbs for much less than you could buy a prime apartment for in Central London.

When your children get older, is your apartment big enough?

Will you be able to cope with the mental stress of aspects such as the fierce competition for school places in Central London?

Would you rather sacrifice space and a garden for the seemingly endless opportunities in Central London, or would you rather get a lot more for your money and a large garden and put up with a longer commute?
