Living In Hampstead, London
What Makes it Unique?
Hampstead is an incredibly peaceful and beautiful village, which is located in North London and is less than 4 miles from Mayfair.
Hampstead borders St. Johns Wood and Highgate – both of which are very sought-after residential neighbourhoods in their own right…
One of the main attractions for potential home buyers is that there are no major London landmarks or attractions here…
Whilst it can get busy in the summer months due to the fact that it’s a very nice part of London to visit for the day, it’s never usually bursting at the seams in the same way that Notting Hill does around carnival time or where the typical London attractions are (the London Eye, Big Ben, even Harrods!)…
What Hampstead offers (in terms of being an idyllic village setting!) does draw in many weekend visitors and on a sunny day, however, Hampstead Heath is a massive draw and is arguably one of the main reasons why people visit Hampstead.
Hampstead Heath is 790 acres of green, open space, which is loved by local residents!
Many residents use it as a place to walk their dogs, as a running track (or trail?!) and to go for a walk with friends on a nice day.
Hampstead also offers stunning views from Parliament Hill and is a popular place to fully relax and even have a picnic…
Hampstead High Street is a residents dream!
It’s a superb mixture of brands, such as Space NK and Waterstones, as well a number of brilliant independent stores, including patisseries, delicatessens and a very good butcher.
In terms of dining, it would be a surprise to locals if I didn’t mention La Creperie de Hampstead, as the queues can literally go round the corner on a summer’s day!
In terms of pubs, The Wells Tavern (simply called “The Wells” by locals) and The Holly Bush are two great pubs, which offer people delicious food alongside your regular drinks/ beverages.
The Everyman Cinema in Hampstead (which was the first!) is where you can switch off completely from the world and watch a movie in a cinema, whilst sitting (or lying down!) on a sofa.
You can also order food and drinks and they will be brought to you throughout the films!
In terms of commuting to and from Hampstead, you can travel from Hampstead underground station to Green Park station (in Mayfair) in circa 18 minutes via Euston underground station.
You can also get from Hampstead underground station to Canary Wharf station in circa 35 minutes via Waterloo station, making it a very good place in which to live for those who work there.
It is easy to see why Hampstead is so sought-after with home buyers and it certainly commands a premium price.
