Old 1-Bed Listings On The Property Portals
The online portals in the UK work in an interesting way…
Let’s take Rightmove and Zoopla (yes, there are others!)…
If one was to put their 1-bedroom Highgate flat or Hampstead flat (as an example!) on the market via Rightmove for 3 months without an offer and indeed a sale, they could easily take it off Rightmove and then place it onto Zoopla for 3 months, where it would appear as a new listing.
“Please do not just assume that because a property says ‘new listing’ that it actually is a new listing!”
If said seller then wanted to take it off Zoopla and put it back on Rightmove after 3 months, they would only have to wait another couple of weeks before putting it online with Rightmove again in order for it to look like a new listing.
Please do not just assume that because a 1-bed property says ‘new listing’ that it actually is a new listing!
It could well be and more often not, it will be…
However, please do your due diligence.
Phone the estate agent and ask!
If you do a thorough enough search online you may well be able to find an old listing, which will show exactly when it was first listed online.
Always double check the facts!
